Sophia Duncan

Coach
Brief info

Sophia Duncan is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt and holds a Purple Belt in SGC Karate & Kickboxing. At just 16 years old, she is already an active competitor and dedicated member of the Duncan MMA team with over a decade of training experience. Sophia serves as an assistant coach for both the Women’s Jiu Jitsu program and the Kids BJJ classes, helping students build strong fundamentals, discipline, and confidence on the mats.

Sophia is especially passionate about NoGi grappling and the technical pace of submission-focused training. She competes regularly in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and continues to challenge herself against high-level opponents. At just 15 years old, she entered her first adult division and earned second place — a testament to both her skill and her willingness to step outside her comfort zone.

Growing up in a competitive martial arts environment, Sophia brings energy, focus, and leadership beyond her years. Her experience balancing youth competition with adult-level divisions gives her a unique perspective when working with both teens and women in the academy. She understands what it takes to push through nerves, train consistently, and develop real mat confidence.

As a coach, Sophia is committed to helping students improve technically while building resilience and self-belief. Whether assisting in kids classes or supporting women on the competition mats, she leads by example — through hard work, humility, and a genuine love for Jiu Jitsu.
